Windows Server 2016 Datacenter
An excellent choice for large-scale virtual environments!
Windows Server 2016 DataCenter supports the creation of stable network structures and offers many exclusive features that are only available in this edition.
These include: Shielded Virtual Machines, Software Defined Networking (SDN) features, and Storage Spaces Direct and Storage Replica.
For companies with an extensive virtual environment, the Microsoft Windows Server 2016 DataCenter solution is an excellent choice. The most significant improvements in Hyper-V include advanced solutions in Failover-Clustering (failover clustering functions), which has significantly contributed to increasing resilience and stability in case of temporary system freezes.
Software Defined Networking (SDN)
Software Defined Networking (SDN) enables centralized management and configuration of physical and virtual network devices such as Router, Switches or Gateway

Unique Features for Datacenter Editing
Windows Server 2016 Datacenter Edition is the latest version of highly virtualized software designed for private and hybrid cloud environments. Innovative software focuses on delivering the highest level of flexibility and control to businesses that need a centralized solution to more easily manage cloud-ready workloads.
- hybrid converged infrastructure (HCI)
- unlimited OSE / Hyper-V containers
- protected virtual machines
- software-defined networks
- software-defined storage.

Security
Rely on new layers of protection built into the operating system to further protect yourself from security breaches. Help block malicious attacks and increase the security of virtual machines, applications and data.
Build cloud and hybrid applications
Combine the benefits of containers from Nano server, Azure Service Fabric, and Windows Server for true business flexibility in cloud-native applications. Build microservices applications using fewer compressed resources. Create faster with the lightweight Nano Server installation option. Use Service Fabric to build always-on, scalable, and distributed applications to run in Azure, on-premises, or both.

ReFS
Resilient File System (ReFS) with high resilience. If you have multiple virtual machines, dynamic disks can fill up quickly and the impact can be significant. By using ReFS to fully allocate disk storage, you can keep your host healthy by using fully allocated, fixed size Hyper-V virtual machines.
Protect administrator credentials
Help protect administrator credentials from pass-the-Hash attacks with Credential Guard and Remote Credential Guard. Restrict administrator rights with Just-In-Time and Just Enough Administration.

New licensing model for the first time in Windows Server 2016
In previous versions, both Standard and DataCenter were licensed for 2 physical CPUs. The new licensing model uses core licensing instead of CPU licensing. It is assumed that the server has at least 8 cores and at least 2 processors for a total of 16 cores. This is the minimum number of cores per server, per 1 CPU, 8 cores must be licensed. Better equipped servers must have additional licenses. They can be supplemented with another 2, 16 or 24 cores. For this, it is necessary to acquire the appropriate Device or User CALs licenses.
