Windows Server 2022 RDS User CAL
A server system tailored to the needs with Microsoft Windows Server 2022 RDS User CALs
Microsoft Windows Server 2022 RDS User CAL is a special form of license, thanks to which companies can give their employees access to Windows Server 2022.
If want to access the Windows Server 2022 from outside, you need a so-called Remote Desktop Service CAL, which is abbreviated as RDS CAL. This is a fixed part of the Microsoft licensing model that allows external access. With a Remote Desktop 2022 User CAL it is possible to access the Win Server Standard 16/24 Core or the Win Server 2022 Datacenter 16/24.
As with the Win Server 2022 Standard User CAL, access is bound to a user, not to the device used. This makes it best suited for users who regularly work on a specific endpoint device and thus need to access the server directly or indirectly.
Windows subsystem for Linux
In the latest version of the server operating system, Microsoft focuses on much better integration of the Linux system. This is reflected in both enhanced security concepts such as "Shielded VMs" and the ability to manage a Linux server from Windows servers using Linux commands. Added to this is the integration of the Linux distribution in the Windows installation.

Windows Server 2022 RDS User CAL
Purchasing a Microsoft Windows Server 2022 RDS User CAL license is a convenient way to plan a server system from scratch or expand it at will. As a result, employees have full access to the powerful features and security options of the latest Microsoft server operating system.
Possible applications of the RDS User CAL
The Remote Desktop Server User CAL not only allows access to Win Server 2022 in its various editions. The licensing model is an integral part of Microsoft and is used in different products for this reason. This applies to both the traditional User CALs and the Remote Desktop 2022 User CAL. If the user is equipped with this license, he can use all functions of the respective product as usual. The only difference is that this is not done within the company building, but for example in the home office. The following products also use this model and can be used by remote licenses from outside:
Microsoft RDSMicrosoft SQLWindows ServerMicrosoft Exchange ServerMicrosoft SharepointHowever, due to the different product lines with different functionality, it is important to pay attention to the compatibility. To access Windows Server 2022, a different license is required than for direct or indirect external access to Exchange Server.

What is the difference between User CALs and Device CALs?
By purchasing a device license, you can install Microsoft Windows Server 2022 on one specific device. It does not matter whether it will be a desktop computer, laptop, scanner or dispatcher. Device CAL is tied to a specific device and cannot be later transferred to another device. Therefore, it is not a so-called "floating license". The advantage of this licensing option is that any user can use the licensed device and you do not need to purchase a special user license for that device. The Microsoft Windows Server 2022 User CAL license allows employees to additionally use Windows Server 2016 systems. However, using the 2022 version with the 2019 CAL is not possible.
Flexible and tailored system architecture
One of the main advantages of the CAL access license model is the use of a tailor-made system. The licensing model owes this property to the ability to freely combine device licenses with user licenses. As the licenses are available individually or in packages, they allow you to build a "tailor-made" server system. For example, there is no problem with equipping stationary offices with licenses for devices, and employees working remotely or from home with User CAL licenses, allowing them to have independent access to all the necessary data.
