What is the RDS Device CAL needed for?

What is the difference between User CALs and Device CALs?
By purchasing a device license, you can install Microsoft Windows Server 2022 on one specific device. It does not matter whether it will be a desktop computer, laptop, scanner or dispatcher. Device CAL is tied to a specific device and cannot be later transferred to another device. Therefore, it is not a so-called "floating license". The advantage of this licensing option is that any user can use the licensed device and you do not need to purchase a special user license for that device. The Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Device CAL license allows employees to additionally use Windows Server 2016 systems. However, using the 2022 version with the 2019 CAL is not possible.
